Competition Team
Berkshire Dance Academy’s competition team represents the very heart of our academy. A group of dedicated, passionate, and exceptionally hardworking dancers who consistently strive for excellence.
Trained by exceptionally passionate and world champion coaches, our competition team is built on discipline, artistry, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to growth. From their very first competition experiences to performing on national and international stages, our dancers are taught to perform with confidence, precision, and heart. The team has achieved outstanding success across the competitive dance circuit, earning prestigious titles, national recognition, and world champion honours, while also gaining invaluable life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, professionalism, and self-belief. Above all, our competition team embodies the spirit of Berkshire Dance Academy- supportive, driven, and united. Celebrating each other’s successes and rising together through every challenge. Whether stepping onto the stage for the first time or competing at the highest level, our dancers are proud ambassadors of the academy and a true reflection of the passion and excellence that define everything we do.

How to join our elite competition team?
We look for dedicated dancers who are passionate about training, performing, and growing as part of a team. Dancers must demonstrate a strong level of commitment, show kindness and respect to their friends and teachers, follow studio rules, and always try their best. Most importantly, we value positive attitudes and a genuine desire to learn, improve, and succeed.

Parents play a vital role in our competition team community. We ask that all parents show kindness, support, and respect... not only to their own dancer, but to fellow families, dancers, and staff. A positive, respectful environment is essential for our dancers to thrive both on and off the stage.

To trial for the competition team, please contact us to book a free trial week. Dancers are expected to be of a certain standard or show strong potential, and the best way for both parties to assess suitability is by attending a full week of training. This allows dancers to experience our classes and team culture, while giving our faculty the opportunity to assess technique, attitude, and potential.

Following the trial week, Gemma McDonagh will be in touch to discuss the outcome. This may include an offer of a place on the competition team, a recommended four-week trial extension, or guidance on attending additional technique classes before re-trialling at a later date.

We are deeply passionate about supporting every dancer through this process and ensuring no child ever feels they have failed. We are always happy to talk dancers and parents through the outcome and next steps. We kindly ask that trials are kept as pressure-free as possible, the less pressure placed on the child, the better the experience for everyone.
